WHY’D IT HAVE TO BE SNAKES?

calamityjon:

Had a great time at Emerald City Comic Con this weekend, many thanks to everyone who swung by, bought a pie, bought a book or just generally came to hang out. I don’t know that I’ll have a table next year, but these last two years have been a lot of fun.

My favorite part might just be having had a chance to play around with these Sharpie oil-based paint markers; I had picked them up originally to try detailing some vinyl and Sculpy figures (I haven’t had time to try that yet, so I don’t know if they’ll work or not) but I brought them to the show so my tablemate Adam Watson could use them for his very popular Muppet portraits.

In between Muppet portraits, I doodled around with them, and came out with these very fun character illustrations which seem to be inspired by equal parts Ed Emberley and Craig McCracken. I have a couple of other pieces which I’ll break out later, but expect that I’ll be returning to these pens to play around with more character designs … er, when the new ones arrive, that is. Adam and I basically wrecked these things over the course of the weekend …
